Compressor Cylinder Head & Oil Cooling – Scroll Compressors

Compressor cylinder head cooling  by 120F (60°C) makes an attractive heat sink available for compression heat and efficiency.

Further efficiency is gained by using a process we call Liquid Injection or Super-Heat Suppression. Our latest patent pending applications includes Liquid Injection into the cylinder head of Scrolls, Recips or Screw compressors to provide substantial de-superheating of discharge vapors which keep compressors cool and last longer. Oil coolers and Economizers can be removed from the system further improving energy consumption. A thermostatic control is included to prevent cylinder heads from becoming too cold during the vapor compression process.

How it works; A certain quantity of liquid refrigerant  injected into the HP port of each reciprocating cylinder or screw which instantly absorbs a substantially large amount of super-heated vapor thereby greatly reducing discharge temperatures and considerably cooling the compressor shell and oil temperatures. The cylinder heads act as a heat sink absorbing further heat of compression improving the overall performance of the compressor. If cylinder head cooling is an issue, liquid injection eliminates the need for oil cooling and or the higher additional energy consumption of economizers, equipment that can be removed. All of which can be provided by a fractional hp LPA® pump motor at a fraction of the cost.
